where is the deleted files? in recycle bin. a tip: right click the "F8 Delete" button, click "Open" and the recycle bin is opened

rename: in wincmd.ini, under [Shortcut](if not exist such section, add
yourself), add:F2=cm_RenameOnly
(you can also map they keyshortcut by: Misc., "redefine hotkeys" field group

when renaming, default no ext: Operation: check "Select only the file name when renaming..."

delete: you can check "Use Explorer delete method", as you do not want to handdle comment.

of Total Commander to a standard USB stick. Please run

You can choose to copy your settings and selected plugins

I tried this tool under sanboxie, it will:
aks you a place to put tc, where is the existing .ini files, and if you want to copy plugins (and if there are .ini files it will ask you if to include them), and if you want to generate a starttc.exe as a launch.
compared with the "thin" version I get manaully below, it does not include file:

when install,
1) choose "English"(in this tep, click "Program info" pop up readme.txt,

which is the same as that is extracted)
2) choose "no" other languge
3) give path. default is c:\totalcmd. I have installed one, so change it to

c:\totalcmd2
4) in this step, you can choose to "Change ini file location", I choose to

change to "Program directory"(file choices including "user-defined

directory" in all. if not clear, click the "help" button)
5) "no" creation in start menu
6) "no" creation of shorcuts on desktop
then installation begin and finished
now,
1)inside sandboxie, open explorer, goto c:\totalcmd2 (note this folder does

not exist outside sandboxie)
there are 27 files(exclude wincmd.ini) and 1 dir(language/) inside it
outside sandboxie, go to c:\totalcmd, there are 28 files(wincmd.ini is not

here) and 1 dir. and i found it has one file:

***default.br2***.

this is probably a file generted by tc(see its time stap. thank tc, this

file is colored blue --- I set to show files modified in 7 days to be blue,

2 days to be read). exclude this file, the file size of 27 files are:
3,234,554 (inside sandboxie) vs. 3,234,554
exactly the same!
as for the language dir, only one file

***WCMD_ENG.MNU***(5111 bytes)

and is same as that in c:\totalcmd\language
2) check in sanboxie any more files/regs? I found a file worth

notification: c:\windows\system.ini.

Removing Total Commander: Double click tcuninst.exe !

Installation BY HAND: Just copy the files to a directory on your hard disk.
Unpack the file install.cab with a cab unpacker (like CABVIEW from

Microsoft)
to an empty dir, like c:\totalcmd . Then move all files with the extension
.pif into the Windows directory. They let external packers run in a DOS

window
instead of full screen. Files in subdir e\ need to be moved to the dir

where
totalcmd.exe is.

Removal by hand:If you remove the program (totalcmd dir), also delete the

files
wincmd.ini, wcx_ftp.ini and noclose.pif in your Windows directory!

search in c: and found it @ c:\windows and its time stamp is exactly the

same as most files under c:\totalcmd. i guess this file doesnot appear in

sanboxie beacuse it is not modified in this installation. howto deal?
2) have a look at install.inf and I found:

3) install.exe . peid, get:

try use uniExtr, and fail (it reported: may be self-extracting zip but

failed...). also 7-zip or Ctrl+PageDown fails. this file is not important

so skip
4)file_id.diz: view it no much info
5)press enter in tc and gointo install.cab directly. it has 4 dirs and 24

files.
using tc's "sync dir" - we only compare, not sync. i found the 24 files of

size 242,655,586 are all in c:\totalcmd2. and c:\totalcmd2 has extra 4

files:

***wincmd.ini***

the former 3 files are exactly == those under e\ (in install.cab)
d\(in install.cab) also has register.rtf / tasten.txt / totalcmd.hlp but

diff sizes; and i tried to view them but they seems to be not right, and

totalcmd has 乱码. so dos? spanish? ignore d\
install.cab also has a language\, including a WCMD_ENG.MNU(5111bytes), ok
the last dir in install.cab is windows\, it contains(using tc's "copy to

clipboard with all details)

or use PortableApps, but the workaround is too boring...
